I hear all this stuff about over feeding. It can kill your fish.etc.etc..
I have 3 RBP's that I feed everyday. I feed them about 25 pellets of Hikari Sinking carnivore pellets everyday. Do you guys think I'm over feeding them?
I don't want to kill them by doing that.

Hows your water quality at the end of that week?

If your
ammonia - 0
nitrite - 0
nitrate - 5ppm-40ppm Then its all gravy baby.

I OverFeed all the time.

I OverFeed all the time.

Honestly, I never check that.
I do 25-30% water change every 2 weeks.
They seem healthy and fine.

overfeeding doesn't always = bad water quality.
how big are you reds again? around 4-6"? you don't NEED to feed daily, reds are greedy they will eat whenever they can but doesn't mean they NEED all those food. look at the fish's shape, if it start to look too fat then you have to cut back on feeding or increase current flow so they can burn off all the extra food intake. in the wild they eat while they can since they don't know when the next meal will be and they need to bulk up to prepare for dry season but in the aquarium they don't have to worry about none of those so there's no need to stuff them everyday.

I only feed every couple days but I give em as much as they want. I think you can over feed fry. But I've never had fish die from over feeding over 1/2".babies & juvies will eat so much it looks like they'll explode but they won't die from over eating.

If you overfeed, make sure to overclean your tank as well.

If you do that, no problem

Thanks guys, I only fed them everyday so they don't turn on each other.
I guess I can start to feed them every other day.

Thanks again.........

if not sure if that'll help ease your mind or make it worse.....i feed my red bellies during a lunch break at 2pm (pellets just like you do) and came home at 530pm and all that was left of my biggest piranha was it's head. doesn't seem like feeding was what caused them to turn on each other that day

ballin is right, feeding them well doesn't guarantee they wont cannibalize; it just makes it less likely. I started with 3 rbp; 1/2 inch each they are now 6 inches, i even added another red about 2 months ago and no casualties. It really just depends on the fish. Some people are lucky enough to keep serrasalmus maculatus together, i wouldnt risk my mac, but it just depends. Fish are different personalities and temperaments, just like people.

Imo cannibalism is rarely because of hunger. Territories & same sex rivalries are probably the main reasons.
