I have 3 RBP's that I've had for a little over a year. The biggest one is about 7'. I decided to add one more to my tank. The one I bought was from a guy that had 18 RBP's in a 210 gal. tank. When I went to pick it up, just about all the piranhas that he had had really big teeths that where really showing. I mean really showing. The one I picked is about 9' and when I put him in my tank, his teeth really showed compared to my other 3. Now he's been in there for about a week and his teeth are not really showing like it did when I 1st got him.
Anyone know why is that, is that normally? Could it be that the one I got is alot older than mine?

Thanks,

not really sure what the fish was like and is like right now, got any pictures?
normally piranhas don't have their teeth exposed and they are usually covered by their lips.
sometimes injuries would expose their teeth, and if the lips don't grow back the normal way then teeth will always be shown. some fish would just born with more teeth showing.
I hope the previous owner didn't cut his piranhas lips to make their teeth show (some ppl do that, it's stupid), when the lips grow back the teeth gets covered up again.
if you have any before and after pictures maybe we'll know what's going on...sometimes one picture is better than thousand words.

Sorry I didn't take any pictures when I got him but like I said. His teeth are not showing as much as when I got him. I just thought he was much older than the one's I've got. Also, he was really yellow more like a gold color with little to no red belly. Now he turned more like grayish on top and his belly is turning red. I think he was just in bad shape when I got him.

With 18 fish in a 210 feeding time might get pretty intense & if he was feeding big meals they were probably trimming each others lips. Do you know the diet he fed? Maybe mostly sticks?chomping through a harder food might maintain a lower lip line.
