I know plants need X light to grow, and calculating that light you must take tank depth in to consideration.
I have a large driftwood trunk in my tank, the top of this trunk is between 4 and 8 inches. I want to grow some moss on the top of this trunk to turn it into a moss tree. I will connect the branches together in several places with sting.
So my question is since java moss is a low light, and the deepest in the water it will be is about 8 inches. Can I get by with using the standard 15 watt lights that are on the 55gallon? since this will be small low light setup for just this plant, should I add fertilizers and excel? or will I be asking for algae.
