Do the pet stores use a special kind of plastic in there plants? I was looking at plastic plants at AC Moore the other day and they got some nice stuff and it is like $20 cheaper than at Petsmart down the street. Can I use the A.C. Moore plants or would it be harmful to my pet bass and bluegills?

go for it

they probably have metal in them though so that they stay stiff
:]

So look for the loose stuff Bsixxx. I was thinking about adding some ferns to my tank make a shelter for my 3 bluegills so the bass leaves them alone.

dude, all my plants come from Michaels or rag shop... i never use the petco kind.. i spend a 100 bucks at rag shop and i can do my whole house in flowers and plants... my fish love em.. parrot fish think they are real and keep pulling the apart but other the that... no issues.. its all good... plus the petco plants are horrible plastic..yucky!

Just make sure that if there is any metal it is sealed. If not they will turn a lovely shade of rust.

Are you dead set on plastic plants? You could do some floating and planted Anachris :) I love the stuff and so does my Oscar. (He enjoys pulling it up)

This stuff is somewhat like hydrilla which is very common in lots of lakes across the country and provides shade and food options for some species of fish :)
