Ok so my pleco likes to hide on the back wall by the heater most of the time so i dont see him scrubbing the sides of the tank.. but when i feed my fish i see him eat the flakes on the bottom.. i know theres not much algae (or none..) so is buying them algae flakes any good? or is there some other food. hes about... 6"

ohh and is a 45 gallon with oak stand good for 100$

There is never enough algae on the walls for a pleco to live off of in a well-maintained tank. He eats the flakes at the bottom because there isn't much algae on the glass. Do get the algae wafers if he is eating the other fish's food.

They will stay in one spot for most of the day until the lights are off, then they cruise around.

You can also feed your pleco veggies. Check this post (one of the "stickies") for more info:

As for the 40 gallon tank and oak stand for 100$, is that US$100 or Canadian$100? If the latter, it is a better price. Generally in the US, you don't want to pay more than $1 (US) per gallon. For your question, it depends on if the stand is "furniture grade" or it's just a utiliatrian stand; and is anything else included, like lights (what type) and other equipment.

If you want to keep your pleco (I'm assuming it's a common "josemali" pleco) for the long term, you may want to consider a bigger tank, at least 75 gallons, preferably even bigger.

i had a cucumber in the tank once for my snail.. i think he had some of that.. never tried to feed it veggies.. my dog usually eats the left over veggies.

well im from Canada so.. lol and it doesn't have a pic.. i emailed the guy for one but nothing yet.. might phone tomorrow... meh

i could take a picture of my pleco.. tried to id it from pics of the net.. no luck lol
....75gallon or bigger... wtf lol if i had the room i would... but then i would be lost on what filter to get >< whole other problem XD ... well i kinda dont have room for the 40gallon.. might have to put it in the living room and take out a chair :P

ok so tomorrow getting the wafers and.. some veggies i guess... stupid wallmart closing when i get off work :( yay for days off

one more question.. what would the fruit do to my water? nothing or what.. i got some watermelon in the fridge.. ><

Not sure. I've never tried watermelon. You can try a small piece, put it in the tank overnight, and remove the left over the next morning. Preferably you could also do a water change the next morning.

See if you can find anything on watermelon in the "sticky."
