Can you add sand or pea gravel on top of pond liner?

I have an interesting piece of driftwood in my pond, but it isn't easily seen as it is as dark as the liner, and I thought a lighter color on the pond floor would make it easier to see.

Any suggestions?

Thanks................

As long as the pea gravel isnt sharp yes u can do sand and pea gravle. GL. wat do u have in it?Koi?

Thank you for getting back to me on the gravel question....

As for what is in the pond, nothing fancy, just about a dozen ryukins and black moors. The pond figures out around 900-950 gallons, too small for koi, so I thought the goldfish would add some color. Plus its been up an running less then a year so I'm still working on the plants. I have a couple water lilies and a whole lot of water lettuce. Could use some advice on underwater plants that can winter over. I'm in zone 6, branson,mo area. Any suggestions?

Ok, so its ok to add pea gravel and/or sand as long as it is smooth.... next question.....

THe pond is about 22 inches deep, would an inch or two of gravel to the pond floor will that be enough?
