My 210 is weeks away from finally being up and running and I am looking to get 1 or 2 more fish to complete my stock list. I have been looking at puffer fish( the MBU Puffer has caught my eye the most) but don't know much about how will get along the best in my tank with out killing everything. What would you guys suggest for a puffer to go with? if the puffer wont work any other suggestions on a really cool oddball or 2 to finish off my tank?

Thanks!!

I really do love puffers, but sadly from what I know Mbu needs like a very large tank and is aggressive, much like the Fahaka puffer.
If you love puffers you could get a smaller tank set up for one, thats what I`m thinking of doing.
I`ve heard that the red eye puffer can live with other fish but this is only rumours. What kind of fish would you be keeping the oddball with

I suggest Bichirs, smaller snakehead, pike cichlid. How large is your tank and what is your stock

(sorry no question marks, i pressed something and now all i get is É lol)

Mbu puffers are not that aggressive at all. Small juvies are more likely to nip fins but as they get larger the become very docile. My Mbu is around 14 inches right now and lives with (3) 3 inch pbass, a pleco and a 3.5 inch Dat. He never bothers a soul. a 210 might not be too small depending on the footprint of the tank. Fahakas like my 18 inch female on the other hand....total serial killers lol.

With that being said. nothing beats the companionship between me and my fahaka. She loves to be petted, handled, and anything else you can imagine. she even has jumped out of her tank to try and follow me into another room. Totally awesome bonded pet, very intelligent as well. If your 210 is standard, just go with a fahaka and put some small tetras in there. It will eventually pick them off, but oh well.

My tank is 72x24x30 the current stock going in is

arowana
spotted gar
tiger oscar
ckf
pike cichlid
poly delhizi
pleco
lima snc
south american bumble bee cat

I would really love a compatible puffer but if one won't go well I am open to other oddball suggestions, the stranger, uglier and more out there the better!!...lol

With the plans for your current stock, there is not a puffer that would be good for that tank, sorry. They will either destroy the other stock, or get eaten do to smaller size.

That's what I thought but I figured I would ask just in case...lol I would love to get a Fly River Turtle but I can't find any place that sells them :(

Puffers are not community fish.
They will basically pick on any fish there size or bigger.
But if you really want a mbu puffer ( my favorite puffer ) Then it would have to go by itself.
a 210 gallon is pushing it for size because they can get over 2 feet long, so i would really recommend a 500 + gallon tank.
But a fahaka puffer would work long term.

P.s some people actually have gotten away with mbu puffer community tanks
with african cichlids, peacock bass, datnoids, arowanas and rays but you can never be sure if your puffer will work with other fish. I think a mbu by itself in a highly planted/ decorated tank would look amazing.
