My ph level for my tap water is 8.0. Its fine for some cichlids but not most tropicals. If I picked up a r/o unit would it level out my ph or is that just for removing contaminates from the water?

as long as its working correctly it should make yer water 7/nutral and pull out all the... well... everything else in the water...
I was thinking about getting either a 3 or 4 stage one. I was going to have it feed into a new trashcan with an air pump running into it. Add a pump into that for taking water and putting it in the tanks as needed. Was thinking about a float valve so it would kick off when the can was full.
