Hi, I have a 7 inch red wolf fish with absolutely no red colour on him. I've seen red wolves with a spendid colour on them when they are only around 1 or 2 inches! How come mine has no red on my red wolf? I am 101% sure that he is I red wolf. The original owner of my red wolf said that the reson why he has no red in him is because he( the owner) used to keep the red wolf with alot of large fish so the wolf wouldn't dare to show red on him or it'll get targetted by the large fish. He said the wolf will have red on him as soon as he is all alone in his own tank with small fish or alone. could it be tnutrition problem since I only feed him omega one cichlid pellets (He wouldn't eat shrimp).

Thanks guys

Usually they lose a lot of coloration as they get larger. I believe mine is female as well but still has decent orange coloration.

Some fish will lose their coloration if they are not in charge of the tank but I doubt that is the case. Could just be his genes.

A gene with TOTALLY no colour? That would sucks! RU sure??

I've seen a lot of females with no colours at all.
Mudfrog I thought yours was a just a big male

I think that the body shape is a good indication as well when they're mature, females have more of full bodies than males.

No clue.. never looked into sexing it. Always assumed Female as they tend to get larger in this species.

Can anyone send a pic of a male and female red wolf for me to compare?? thanks
