I've been working on resealing my new tank but I've ran into a problem. I've already scraped all the seams with a razor several times and you can still see where the silicone was. I've tried using vinegar, mineral spirits, and acetone and nothing can seem to do the job. It's a pretty old tank and it looked like someone already tried to do a not so great job of sealing it up. Could the glass be stained or do I need to keep trying? Also, when I rub my finger over it, it is smooth like the surface of the glass and not rubbery like the silicone.

I used one of those scotch brite pads and scrubbed as hard as I could. I also tried soaking it and then scraping it with a razor. I didn't know if anyone has dealt with this or if I just needed to do something different.
most say use acetone then use a razor again and then acetone then wipe it down because as im sure you know the acetone will mess with the new silicone if not wiped off
but sounds like it just might be stained i have a 240 that is very old, 3/4-7/8'' glass and i think it is stained but previous owner resealed it and it now had some bubbles but still holds.
ya mine is a 8x2x2 and it did not have a center brace with the replacement trim so the guy put a 2x2 piece of glass as a center brace
