Is Jet Black Tahitian Moon sand ok for an aquarium?? And if I buy it what should I do before I put it in the tank? should I wash it and is it safe for a freshwater setup?
as long as it's not silica sand it should be fine. But I have never heard of it. I bought estes Ultra reef sand for my new tank. it was $4 for 5 lbs. and I needed like 120lbs. so not the cheepest stuff but I couldn't find 3M color quartz.
And yes wash it before if goes into the tank even if the bag says prewashed. Allways wash gravel or sand before it goes into a tank

It is some kind of wholesale discount sand company selling it REALLY cheap. Most places I have seen the new Jet Black sand is $40 a 50lb bag and this is like $10. But I was gonna go with White but black is just as cheap. And another thing about sand size what size do I use? there is like .80mm - 2.0mm I am guessing the 2.0mm is more like gravel and I dunno how big the .80mm is I didn't know sand came in different sizes.
