Question about scrubbies as bio media

The scrubbies are round 3 - 3 1/2" about 1" tall, and I see them stacked or thrown in all higgelty piggelty into sumps in here.

ACcording to this:

Downsides:If your bio-load is huge yet your sump is less than massive, you will still most likely eventually find yourself looking to add some media with a higher surface area.

Overall:Best bang for your buck as far as bio-media

Why not put them into our sumps more efficiently?

Interesting. I've always just stuck bioballs in between all of the scrubbies so that no space went to waste. But your idea seems pretty good.

I like that formation. not a bad idea in my book. Im building a 15 gallon tall full of these scrubbies ill see if I can replicate that.
