question about staetocranus????

ok this pair i keep have bred twice and the male and the female have always protected and stayed in the same place along with the fry

but this time the male decided to go take shelter in another part of the tank rather than along with the female and the fry

staetocranus are supposed to pair for life, aren't theyis something going on that i should worry about
