beloit, wi
i'm getting an atlantic fresh water stingray today and i'm going to be putting it in my 125 ga. tank. i just took my 2 pacus and 2 oscars out of it and put them with my 4 catfish,1pleco and gar in my 150 ga. heres my question, what can i put with the stingray for a tank mate? can i put my oscars in there? they're 3 & 5 inches long. or can i take 1 of my pacus and put 1 of them in there? one of them is about 7 inches long and the other is around 16-18 inches long. i've asked other local fish buddies of mine and they all say its a trial and error type of thing. just looking for alittle more info on everything.

thanks, tat2dfishguy

nothing.... i would add a 50 gallon a day drip system a 180 gallon sump and about 3 canister filters.. and i bet you have no idea why im saying this cause i know you did no research on this ray.....

I havent done any research except for asking other local fish friends questions. i know i have to get more filters. i have a canister filter already running that is for a 175 gallon tank. its been running since i've had the tank. i have no idea what you're talking about as far as a drip system?? the more you can inform me the better. i appreciate your help.

What nic means is, you NEED to do more homework. You clearly havent done enough to know the meaning behind nic's post.

i just found a post on why rays die and i'm printing it up to read tonight. do you know what he's talking about when he's talking about a drip system??

atlantic rays are a salt water ray that move in and out of freshwater... in fresh water they secrete pure urine(ammonia) your tank at that small will smell like a urinal... research is the key... your buddys have no idea what they are talking about... your tank is not even close to being able to handle the waste out put of one of these rays... use the search bar and search these rays plenty of threads on them

drip systems are automatic water changers... to combat all the waste put out you would need some serious fresh water flow along with insane amounts of filtration...

so what you're saying is that i have 2 get a salt drip system for my tank?? i'm going to add more filtration tommorrow as soon as i get to my tattoo shop. i've got an extra 60 gallon filter that i can put on the tank and i also have a 125 gallon under gravel that i can put in there as well, so if i put all my filters in my tank i'll have enough filtration for a 360 gallon tank. i plan on getting a 300 ga. tank soon. but until then, the ray should be alright as long as i get all the filters in the tank and the salt drip??

ok, thats no problem, i've got alot of water flow in the tank already. but by the end of the day tommorrow i'll have alot more and plenty of filtration.

if you convert the ray to saltwater the ray will be fine..

use the search feature and type in atlantic stingray....
