My Yoyos are only about 4" right now. I know that their markings change as they grow. What I'm wondering about : does this continue through out their life span? If not, when do their markings stop changing? I've looked at several books and sites, and none of them address this. Any one here know about this? Also, wanting to know on the average, how long they live?

Not too sure on lifespan but I'm sure 10 years plus if well taken care of. As for the markings, I don't think it changes much.

Umm...I know for a fact, from watching mine as they grow = their patterns change, from looking like it's spelled out 'yoyo' on thieir bodies, to different markings. Some markings eventually look close to the 'yoyo' pattern again, after a month or so, and then change again. What I wanted to know was if this is something that continually goes on through out their lives, or do they get 'permanent' markings when they're older? I have seen 9 of 10 having really different markings, and then a few weeks later, some of them are back to having markings that are very close to their original 'yoyo' pattern....

Mine changed for well over 3 years and then I had to move (and give them away). They seem to get darker and a more complex pattern as they age.

I have had my yoyo's going on three years and they have definitely changed over that time. I really don't know if there done changing, I hope not it is just another interesting part of these very cool fish.
