I wanna buy a female tilapia . My current tank has 7bichir 6-13in. A 6in EBJD half blind and 3 albino Hecklii about 7inches. I understand the tilapia can be a dick. Whats
Your suggestions/opinions?
The tilapia was w a big Loach (10in) and a common pleco (13in) w no issues in a 60gal. I wanna try to make this work ?

Your hecklii are amazing looking.

I have some red nile tilapia in my pool pond. I have never seen them act aggressive. What kind of tilapia is that? Reminds me of a very dark buttikoferi which I understand can be quite territorial/aggressive.

I’m not 100% sure but others think it’s buttikofori. The lfs it’s at isn’t the best but once in awhile there’s some gems for cheap and this is one I think ?

Looks like a butti - everything I’ve seen suggests they are on par with some of the meanest cichlids out there. I wouldn’t risk it with your other fish.

The Tilapine in your photos is now considered Heterotilapia buttikoferi.
It was given a new genus after some DNA research deemed it deserved a change from Tilapia.
This is one of the most naturally aggressive species, and is a loner.
Put with other cichlids, it normally kills them.
And your heckelli will be easy kills for it, as will an EBJD.
The Heterotilapia gets to be about 20",
If you want it, it will need its own, approximately 300 gal tank to itself.
