it looks skinny atm so currently still on live feeders

Well that won't help at all. Best thing to do right now is get it off live ASAP. Try using silversides and stuff them with small pellets. Once off of live them feed market shrimp and tilapia and stuff those too. Stuffing the food will add nutrients and get it used to the taste and smell of the pellets. Once it's nice and fat then slowly add just the pellets but keep feeding the market shrimp and tilapia. Variety is key.

It is rarely kept, it appears, and even more rarely ID'ed properly . I thought my Pimelodus albicans was it once but not after it had grown up. See this thread, if it helps, and the threads linked in it: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/f...00-Need-ID-on-this-Catfish&highlight=albicans

It appears little is known about their diet too, so I'd go by other Brachyplatystoma and their diet habits. There is plenty written on MFK on the attempts to wean tigs and jurs and slobs off live foods and even onto pellets.
