I'm Where I'm At
has ANYONE successfully kept atf and pbass together living in harmony?

what was your experience? do you recommend?

I got a 12" vatf, 10" tat and when my 3 azuls and 1 pinima grow a to about 9" or 10", I want to put them all together.

I've seen what happens when you add a 7" pinima, you can too if you look at my threads,........... but what if the sizes were about the same?

azuls and pinimas have the same temperment. how would the azuls work but not the pinima?

im just messing with him its an inside thing. haha.

( it should be fine but the tat may get hurt by the azul and pinima)

Maybe my memory is failing me, but I recall someone's cichla getting a tooth-in-the-eye at the hand of an Armatus. Risky business all around. Definetly use caution man.

got 2 FATF with 2 Azuls and 2 Ocerelis (spelling) and no beef but these fish are small, 5inch +/_1".

the going concensus among ATF keepers is that the cichlia rate of growth is far faster than ATF/Payara, and thus will get to a threatening size eventually.

IMO and what i'll do; Safest way is to grow out the ATF/Payara to a size where a cichlia wont try to eat it, then cohab. Or if one's a clever keeper, time it by choosing to purchase fish at different sizes.

Your fish appear to already fit the bill. Tats are a lot less aggressive than armatus and stay around a foot. The armatus however, will eventually be able to eat the non tem cichlia but that's assuming one can grow one out this big in the first place.

well, the pbass has at least a few months to grow. the atf is 12" and tat is 10" and the pbass are only 7" right now. so we'll see.

i eventually only want one setup if possible. if they can all live together, i'd like to keep them in the 180g for a while then upgrade and go from there. if all else fails, i'll just keep 2 tanks because i love atf and pbass. can't decide on what to go with so i want both
