ok i have seen a 10" albino catfish at the lfs he is asking 5$ for it now what i want to know is can i keep it with my 9"+ RTC and 2x 10-11" TSNs and the 10"+ jar as the jar has no probs with the other cats except at feeding times when he shows who is the boss to the RTCs, i am not worried about the jars aggression i know that clarius catfish max out at 18" in aquaria and the RTCs and TSNs grow till they die, but i am getting the pond ready for them i shall move them to the pond once the pond is ready what i am concerned is about aggression amongst cats so anybody with any ideas

I keep a 20" channel with a 17" RTC, and a 17", and 20" TSN. They also live with two large oscars, and one huge jag. There's never any aggression, but they do live in a 1100 gal pond. The channel catfish seems to grow faster than any of them at the moment. He also eats pellets off the top of the water, and shrimp off the bottom. He'll eat during any part of the day, and is extremely active always. The only thing I can see is that he will be competition for food on both the top and bottom.

so you think i can get the cat if i manage the feeding of the fish properly. thats great, i will try and get a pic of him, he is pretty badly bruised as the lfs owner is catching him and showing him to any customer who wants to have a look at him, in the morning when i went to the lfs he had a huge puncture wound on his side, i am going now to get him. shall post pics once i get back. thanks necro

awwww mannnn i am not able to use the manage attachments button as it is not there at all i already have got the pics to show and this is what happens aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and when i spoke about my jar i think i spoke too early
as i see now that he has shown a keen interest in the new comer :screwy::screwy:
i shall be leaving the lights on for now so that he doesn't keep getting any ideas :swear::swear::swear:
he seems to be well behaved if the lights are on

Didn't realize you were talking about a clarius catfish. Everyone says they are wonderful fish. You'll have to leave him in your current tank after you move the others to the pond. Do you have a quarantine tank you can treat and observe him in? Make sure you are treating him for that wound. Would be bad if such a beautiful catfish were to get an infection.

Good luck with this catfish and I am really jealous.

i removed him today morning and have put him in the bath tub to treat him for his wounds and yup i am not going to put him in the new pond wouldn't want the RTC or the TSN to make a snack out of him
in the morning i saw one more puncture wound near the belly and there was blood dripping :(
i am adding some melafix and pimafix but no temp raise as the max temp they live at is supposed to be 76
man i hope he heals
