Question: cichla stripes fades in and out

My cichla's stripes fades in and out right in front of my eyes. Theyare very active and eating wel but i'm worried about the stripes. Is this normal?

To be honest sounds like your bass is stressed. What are the tank mates?

X2 sounds stressed, one thing to remember is that if your water conditions are inconsistent they can be stressed by that also. So if there isn't a tankmate stressing them out, I would look at my water conditions next.

It's normal. All of my bass do it when fighting and flaring up at one another. Usually their spiny dorsal will turn jet black too but not all the time.
