Hello,

Here is my idea for eliminating all the filter tubes in my tank and it might be cheaper than
trying to build a sump.

I have 2 Magnum 220's and a Mag 7 drive pump

My thought is to have the tank drain into magnum #1 that is filled with bio-media and
then have that cannister drain into magnum #2 (filled with other filter media), than
the outlet tube from magnum #2 will be hooked to a mag 7 motor to pump it back into the tank. The hose from the mag 7 to the tank will be 3 feet, so the flow will be 500 GPH. Not counting the magnum 220 motors pumping water thru the system.

The tank is 150g with discus, that currently uses 2 Emperor 400 & 2 magnum 220, lots of tubes hanging in the tank, does not look good.

Do you think the filter set up will work???

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks,

Since you already have all the stuff, try it.
I would put any mechanical media before any bio media.
You want to keep the bio clean, eh?
