I'm Where I'm At
I need to buy a new lawnmower. I was doing a little research and was thinking about an electric mower. I dont' want to deal with oil and gas mowers and want to buy an electric one. there are 2 kinds, the ones with the cord and a cordless one that runs on a rechargable battery. I want to get the one that is cordless

Does anyone own one? Know anyone who does and is it reliable? Stronger? not as good compared to the gas mower?

I'm also looking to buy the cordless electric trimmer. is that a good idea also.

thank you in advance for your input. I'm looking to buy as early as today or tomorrow

my dad had a corded one.. worked perfectly. the downside about the one with a rechargeable battery would when it looses battery life. and rechargeable batteries are expensive.

corded ones are not bad but you are limited by the cord..
cordless ones are about the same but again once the batteries take a dive (2 years if yer lucky.. socal heat will cook them even in the shed/garage)

why not check out a reel style mower... aka the oldschool push mowers

if you dont have a HUGE lawn they are wonderful... even if you do have a HUGE lawn its not the worst thing in the world..
i bought my first car after 4 summers with one this style mower... mine was from the 1920 and had still had all its original parts...

no gas, no parts, no cords, no batteries... these mowers build character... and you can mow your lawn at 10pm when its not 110 outside..

^nice lol you can even get one that has a bag attached to the back so all the trimmings are easier to throw away lol

i dont' want to be limited by the cord's length. i have only about 2000 sq ft of grass to do. like 2 good size living rooms or something.

technology is making me lazy and spoiled

man, been over 20 years since I've touched one of those. didn't know they still sell those but i saw some last night at lowe's

i plan on keeping the battery in the house actually if i take that route.

i think i already made my decision on buying an electric mower, i'm really looking to see if there is a reason not to. so wanna see if anyone has any bad experience.

don't seem like many have 'em. i guess i'll be the one to go to for advise for anyone who would like one in the future.

My Ol'man has an electric cordless trimmer.I'll just say he went and bought a gas one.

electric = crap

just what i have found, lol. especially with chords.

I agree, electric lawnmowers are total crap. Buy a gas mower and save yourself the trouble. I have used a friends electric corded before and would never use one again.

electric mower dont know but dont waste ur money on an electric trimmer. they are the biggest wastes of money ever. too weak(battery or cord) to really accomplish proper trimming.

wow, thanks for the input guys.

can you guys elaborate a little more though? why exactly are they crap? just too weak?

does anyone have GOOD experience with them at all?
