At the end of the day, how important is it to make money versus loving yor job?

Im at the point in my career where I need to deciede whether loving what you do and not making much money will be my path OR not liking my job as much and making much more money.

Just wanted some perspective from people who have lived and been around.

Any thoughts?

Being close to that age, I have found that if you can afford to do so, job satisfaction is much more important than a little extra cash. Besides, what good is the cash if you are too miserable to enjoy it. And the stress of hating your job takes it toll after awhile. You might not live to spend that extra cash.

I'm not thrilled with my job. But, the pay, benefits, and security of my field affords me the opportunity to enjoy myself, my family, my hobbies, and plan for life after retirement.
I've had the opportunity to switch career paths and work at something I love. However, the downside would have been much lower pay (which also means working past retirement age), less benefits, unstable future, and no attainable goals for life after retirement. I was always worried that these hindrances would eventually make a 'dream job' more of a regret in life choices.

I am facing a cross roads of a similar sort. However, I am not quite at the decision making point yet. That being said I truly believe that you have to achieve a happy medium. No job is perfect but you have to be able to take care of your responsiblities. Money is only important to the extent that you dont have it. If you need $200.00 but only have $100.00 then $100.00 becomes very important.
