Would you like to see more bass stocked in your lakes, rivers, etc? If so what kind would you prefer to be stocked smallmouth or largemouth or other kinds. I have one and final question. What areas would you think it would be best to stock ie country to stock in.

I think they stocked a few waters in devon/cornwall with Bass but I don't think it was much of a success, Introducing non-native species is generally considered a bad thing.

The LM bass that were introduced to England were in Dorset and as far as I can acetain, did not spawn and eventually died of old age, so they would have to be stocked like rainbow trout every year, and expensive way of running a fishery and they would not grow that big.( Its not hot enough here)

Interestingly the Environment Agency several years ago printed that they would allow stcking of LM bass but they had to evaluate the water first. I know several people applied but no-one to the best of my knowledge has been given permission. The water would have to be completly land locked to ensure they did not escape to eat the salmon smolts they are spending a fortune stocking in the rivers,
Now small mouth bass do well in cooler waters like ours, they do not grow as big

so SM could be the one

Thanks for the reply, I just wanted to get your thoughts on it, cause here in the us we have your brown trout here, most of which are from scotish lines. Smallmouth would do well in the northern places in europe, england and maybe northern france or germany or other eastern european countries. Your right largemouths range here stops in canada somewhere not to far across the border. They might do well in some southern countries, spain, italy, or even north africa. That surprises me that they didnt do well in england, it gets colder here in pennsylvania than it does there but your water might stay a more constant temp. The water here has to be at least 72F for them to spawn. Were as the smallmouth can spawn at 70F and does so even in what we call trout water here. I am not sure if sunfish would even do well there if they had no luck with largemouth.
