Quarantine Tank
Ive kept rays before but this is the first time keeping more than one together in the same tank. Three rays total 2 male and 1 female.

I realize that males can get agressive with females during breeding but is male on male agression ever a problem? Is it more problematic if a female is with them? If they do get agressive would it be reduced by removing the female?

Any thoughts or comments? The rays are not even at breeding size yet and are still young but I want to reduce any chance of agression between the males or any possible future problems. Thus far everybody seems to be getting along...

:feedback: :stingray:

Personally, I have had a pool with 15 rays in it at the same time and NEVER had a problem. they ranged from 15-24". I have had tanks with rays as small as 6" in with 18" monsters and still had no problems. My larger rays bred and still no probs. I have also had mild rays like flowers and tigers in with much more aggressive animals like otos, mossaics, etc... i think you will be fine. Good luck

I wouldn't worry about the aggression to much, All rays seem to be aggressive when there is a mature female in the tank. It's just part of there nature females fight the males and males fight other males just never ends.

why not try and trade a male for a female? ;)

I had 2 male motoros with a female before I don't see a problem with that trio worst case is you sell a male when it gets bigger
