I am new to ray breeding so please forgive me if this sounds like a dumb question... at first I thought it was some kind of ray diarrhea... but after seeing the video and the picture of some of the 'diarrhea' contents.. it may be something else. I'm hoping she got knocked up. 20150816_170456.jpg

The pic looks like sperm Vincent, but i can't see in the vid the point where the male is flipped upside down under the female? Looks like a load of white stuff suddenly shooting up into the water column but for the male to be succesful he needs to be flipped upside down undernreath the female.

it's the female in the video that has the 'diarrhea'.. the male is nowhere near her.. I was wondering if any breeder has seen this happen before? Perhaps she got tagged at an earlier time and is now ejecting the sperm plug?.. my buddy snapped that pic a min or so after she ejects the cloud.

edit.. i stand corrected.. there is a male under her.. perhaps he was shooting blanks? premature issues? haha That male is only a year old so i discounted the possibility of the cloud coming from him.. I appears like the bigger ray ejected the cloud but it's possible that the smaller ray under her could have ejected it as well.... thoughts?

Sorry i missunderstood your question then Vincent. I thought you were asking if the male had bred her in the video.

in the vid it looked like the top ray made the plume of white, could have been sperm could have been food, or anything really from that area, how big are they and age? Also just for myself, what cameras do you use and also what recording service, ive been looking for a setup, just want a few days worth of recording and what and good camera, Hope for the best, can you look back further and find the breeding, should be hours earlier, if you cant you got your answer

Looked like a ray going number two. Ive seen my rays do this before, they just blow it out as fast as they can sometimes, clouds up the water for a min.

I think I did the same thing as your ray when I realized, this is not just one awesome tank, but a wall of them! Nice set-ups and fish bro

I think the male under her unloaded his gun...

Dropcam with cloud recording... the larger female has been getting bite lately.. I got her 5 months ago and she was already 16 inches back then so she should be mature.. the only male that is mature (or so i thought) was not near her when this happened.

The other fish were eating up the contents ... plus my buddy snapped a few pics of the contents, so the chance of it being sperm is still high. I think the male underneath her could have been the culprit.. his claspers are rolled even tho he is just a year old or so

I watched my male try to mate with the female earlier this summer. He was unsuccessful and gave up. He released his sperm into the tank in a white cloud. What you saw could have been this. If so, maybe the female isn't ready yet.
