in my own little world
was wondering if the way i have the UV set up is okay going downwards then up. hard to explain but i dont have too much room to put it side ways. here are some pictures. would this work okay and get a even flow as my returns are on each side of the tank. the UV is dead smack in the middle.

here is how far it is pointed downwards. Thinking about cutting a inch or two shortly so it is closer to the and doesnt drop so much

i want to make sure before i put the PVC cement on it.

also, does the ball value and check value look okay? does the check have to be vertical ???

Thank in advance. never plumbed with PVC before, always soft plumb in the past.

UV looks great. i don't see any problem with the UV being in that position. It looks like you got a great investment (Aqua UV brand).:D I have the same brand. I made mine almost the same but I bought the 3/4 option and replace it with 1" in/out. :D

The check valve (Brand: Spears) looks good too. according to the write up on:

http://www.marinedepot.com/ps/ps_Vi...ts_Valves_True_Union_Swing_Check~vendor~.html

It is designed for vertical and horizontal installation. Looking great!:D

I would just make sure the flap is facing down (just my personal opinion-gravity can play a role).

Nice work! very clean!:D

looks ok from here. up and down ok.....what you gain going down you lose going up so its a break even deal......:)

What do you mean by the flap facing down? when i closed position now the flap is like this.. ---> \ so the flap swings to the right attached on top.

can you UV handle the flow rate? the slower the flow rate the more effective the UV will be....

most likely i will need to slow the flow down with the ball value. hopefully the split will reduce the flow rate going through since there are 2 returns right before the UV and 2 after. am i missing something???

Is the water gravity fed on the way to the sump? OR is the UV sterilizer inline on the return to the tank? If the latter, looks okay.

As far as the check valve I have installed many in home basement sump pumps and they need to vertical. It looks like this valve is more high tech, but would guess that it would still rely on the weight of the water to close the flap securely and surly.
