Maybe. But it isn't that difficult to build a decent stand for a tank, especially if you get one custom made, you can just leave someone qualified to do all the hard work for you .
The main things to take into consideration are;
a. Is my floor strong enough to support the tank? Thick concrete is a must for tanks 200gallons+.
b. Is the floor completely even and flat? An uneven floor will cause the tank to crack after a while, since the weight at the bottom of the tank will not be dispersed evenly.
I'd forgotten about THAT tank! My fiancee and I have just read the article and laughed at most of it - great story! Especially the bit about rehoming fish to HIS tank from a public aquaria!
