When adding new fish is there a certain amount of days before you should do water changes? I figure they are already stressed enough so probably isn't a good idea to do that in the first couple of days.

All depends on your water parameters, they'd be more stressed in high nitrate than if it was lower; unless they came from bad conditions and needed to be acclimated

I isolate all my fish for at least a two week period before adding them to my main tank, to ensure that they are healthy and not going to make the rest of my fish sick. I do 50% daily water changes on my isolation tanks daily while they have residents. I will be honest, I skip a day here and there in which case I'll do a larger water change the next day. The water changes never seem to stress them out. However I've always brought small fish so I don't know if it would be the same with large ones. :)
