Question for you my helpful experts!

Around here we do alot if ice fishing with live bait and we use spikes there sold everywhere this time of year. I dropped one in the tank and these little guys hammered them! I feel there a better source of nutrients than freeze dried bloodworms and they hardly make a mess of the tank. What do you guys think? Should be fine right?

Spikes are maggots (fly larvae). Good food for fish.

Yeah thats what I figured. I guess ive only used them to catch fish never had to use them as a food source lol. Good deal. Cause they sure hammer them when they hit the tank!

Just keep in mind the longer you feed them live the harder it will be to ween them off and onto prepared foods.

Yeah There gonna keep eating the freeze dried blood worms for the most part but the spikes make a good snack for now. its amazing how much they have changed in just two days from being scared of everything now when I walk into the kitchen where the tank is out they come. Love the little guys!!
