Keep count of your nitrates. Do a good water change, write down your ppm..1week later, test your nitrate ppm.. subtract first number from second, divide by 7.. that's your average nitrates added per day. Keep'm under 20.. If you can't do that, your bio load is too high for your filter. - N
 
Good answer^. As long as you can keep the nitrates low, fit as many fish as you want if you're willing to do the excessive water changes. But keep in mind swimming space for the fish of course.
