i would like to have 2 types different schools of small fishes in my new 10 gallon aquarium. If i add neon tetras, how many fish is suggested? And what type of another school of fishes should i add in? Do pleco will harm the small fishes?

You could do a dozen neons and maybe half a dozen lemon tetras or the like. Bushy nose pleco would be fine with this mix or even a few cory catfish.

thanks for your answer.Another 1 question to ask. Can aquarium plant grow in the gravels without soil? Do pleco harm the plant?

I second the bristle nose pleco

I would skip the pleco. 6 cories(species that stay under 2") and a dozen tetras would be nice in a planted 10g. Lemon tetras are significantly larger than neon's thus limiting the size of the school and personally I don't like lemons in a planted tank. I have a school of lemons in my planted tank and while they are a beautiful fish, they don't pop against plants the way neon's or rummynose do.

I like zebra and leopard danios in a small tank, also you could do glowlight tetras, and maybe a female betta or two. ( i usually did one male in my community 10s but its not recommended by the majority)
