question of atf teeth

I always see the wild caught ATF of pics from web has big awsome teeth,but i also found the teeth of ATF we kept in tank iwas too small.what make the difference and how to make their teeth big?THANKS for your advise

Usually the one on tv and sports fishing pics is the goliath. The goliaths have MUCH larger teeth then the more common vittatus even at smaller sizes.

the bigger they are the bigger the teeth, large tigers are rarely seen in aquariums. Get a Armatus if you want big teeth.

Yeah and I doubt if there is anything that can be bought or found that would make the fish's teeth any bigger than they are suppposed to be...It would take a tank at least the size of House of Sam to grow these fish anywhere near the size to where they look as fearsome as the big, wild caught adaults.

I have a 16" Armatus,and the bad guy killed one of my catfish several days ago

I think the wild vittatus have the bigger teeth than the same size one kept in tank,maybe wild vittatus eat something special to make their teeth bigger?

Possible, Theres a huge scale of food variety in the wild, & natural resource of nutrients in the water. Tigers loose and grow teeth at a alarming rate & having them in a glass box will just break more teeth at a more common rate. Personally i think you Just gotta have a big enough tank and with good care they will eventually grow those monster chompers .

I have 2 gatf n for their size they have big teeth! Bigger they are the bigger the teeth!if they are bigger in the wild its probably a lot of things.minerals in water, calcium from fish bones, ect. I know they can slice their food in half like piranhas.my gatf are bout 6 1/2"n they have bigger teeth than my piranhas that are 8"-10" n have way more body mass to them than atf. All the atf you see on TV are huge, plus everything looks bigger on TV.I also think looking though 1/2"-3/4" glass makes everything look smaller!a fish in your hand or bucket is always bigger n thicker than what it looks like in your tank!
