ok i just got a new fish from petco that just died a few min ago :( called petco and they said i can come in and put the 10 donation i paid for the fish against another fish they have a 1" rtc/tsn for 20 bucks how i know i would have to rehome it or get a bigger tank. but how long would it be able to live in a 100g tank before i would have to get a new tank?

what do you mean theres no way they are selling one? i just looked at it last night when i was in there. some guy brought it in because it was eating all of there fish lol. if i remember right its 6'long 15" deep 2 or 3' tall. i would have to put it in a smaller tank until it gets some size to it so my other fish wouldn't eat it as soon as i stuck it in there. but it would go in the 100g tank until it was around 13 or 14 inches hopefully by then i could have another tank built that would be able to house him.

I'd say you could probly keep one in there for about maybe 6 months depending on how you feed him... Sorry the way you put the questions I thought they had bought a bunch of them and were now selling them as a buisiness not just an extenuating circumstance...

Also why did your last fish die? RTCxTSN need a crazy amount of filtration... mine just grew from 3.5 inches to about 7 inches in about 2.5 months but I feed him alot and hes been in a real clean 180 gallon so thats pretty quick.

i dont really know. talking with some other people on here i think either my jd or oscar most likely the jd kept picking on him. he was fine at the store and last night when i put him in my tank then this morning woke up went to look at him and was missing a lot of scales and some of his fins was torn. i put in some parasite tablets hoping it was just that and stress but walked in there a while ago and he was belly up. i thought he was big enough and there was enough room where they could stay away from each other but i guess i was wrong on that part.

the oscar is 9-10" and the jd is 8-9" right now on the filtration is just two of the 60gallon filters from wally world that came with the tank when i bought it used. i am planing on putting a canister or something like that for it after Christmas.

yea i know bud that's why i was saying i would have to put it in one of my other tanks until it got some size to it.

yeah then I would get him for a while but I'd add more to the filtration immediately... see if you can get it as an early xmas present if you can. It's reaaally necesary... do a water change to before you get him to get rid of some of the meds... catfish can be very sensitive to meds in my experience w/ them... this is because they dont have scales like other fish.
