Question on Bio-rings

Would bio-rings do better in wet/dry (trickle) application than submersible? Thnx for any input.
 
The short answer is a mixture of BOTH is best. Each situation you suggest houses different types of BB.

i heard they are better fully submerged because they are supposed to be canister media? i dont know... hopefully! or else my sump is retarded.
