I have a six foot glass hagen 110 gallon. sure it would hold one buttikoferi but could Another fish or two in with it? Say a convict or something like that. Or if a colony of fronts how many fish would be recommended for a tank that size

I didn't mean putting the fronts in with the butti I meant what kind or if any, other fish would or could live with the butti in that tank. Or if one used it for a frontosa colony, what would be an acceptable number o fronts that it could house. Sorry for the poorly worded question.

Don't get me wrong, I really like buttikoferi, but my experience is, nothing can live with them, unless the tank is really large (300gal+) except hippos, and that's only because the buttis eat hippo dung.
They probably don't want to bite the hand that feeds them.

I have a six foot long 135 gallon with five adult frontosas. I would not be afraid to have 6-8 adult frontosas in my 135 if they were all getting along.

Ya, big nasty fish....I kept one with Mbuna, some FHs, Jewels and catfishes, but I also sold him before he got more than 8-9". They are jumpers too....possibly even worse than Jags.
So 4 to 6 adult frontosa would not be unreasonable for a six foot 110 gallon tank ?
The Frontosa is a nocturnal Tanganyikan that should be kept in colonies and/or with other nocturnal fish like catfish. Depending on the sex and temperament of the Frontosas, 4-6 sounds fine, just beware males can grow 12" and have a little attitude at times.....

.......but a Buttekofferi will certainly dominate even the biggest Frontosa as adults or even earlier. I have seen Buttekofferi 18" or so....and HEAVY - 3lbs.+
