question on cat compality

i was told that you cant keep m.tigrinus with rtc tsn marbled sail fins,etc

but i see pic all the time of these cats mixed


maby as juvi you cant mix them

someone please clear this up for me ?

some cats like the red tail . Will out grow some of the other real real fast. When that happens the red tail will look upon them as food not buddys. if equal size they should be compatible.

b/c i only see pics of adults together
rtc and tsn grow alot faster then tigrius
 
Another thing is some of the shovelnose cats aren't as quick when it comes to feeding. The wide mouth cats tend to gobble up all the food right away. I keep a 14" planiceps with my rtc, rtc/tsn and longibarbus and I need to make sure he gets enough to eat. My tig and juruense are kept by themselves to insure they get enough.

Both answers are correct.

Growthrate does matter and aggressive feeding behavior will keep food away from the tigrinus. they can be mixed, but IMO Tigrinus would do better mixed in with Flavicans, Juruense, Goselinia and FIlamentosum.

filamentosum is on the passive-side of SA catfish?! yeesh, i never would have thought that.
 
I kept RTC, TS and and Emperor ID all in the same tank, and I did notice some 'quarelling'. The RTC would chase the TSN away to the other side of the tank, and would sometimes go after the EID if he came down and close by the RTC. I was never worried about it, as no damage was ever seen on the other two, and they were always short chases. More scared of the EID outgrowing the RTC and inflicting some bites on the back of the RTC like I read about somewhere. Anyone else notice aggression?
