I'm Where I'm At
How can I tell how many gallons a tank is built to hold by knowing the demensions?? Is there a math equation that will tell me??

I look at some tanks and can't tell if it's 100g or 125g. People on here ask for demensions and know how big the tank is in terms of gallons it holds. Or some read demensions and will know if the # of gallons listed is wrong.

Thanks in advance!

Use the conversion tool on this site?

yeah at the top it says conversions use that or do lxwxh then divide by .1337 thats pretty close

Thats quite far off. Its the LxWxH (In inches), divided by 231.

On the same note, many people (Myself included) train themselves to know the gallonage of a tank upfront by simply knowing the dimensions. One example of this, is that every 2ft cube you have (2x2x2ft), that equates to 60 gallons. Using this rule, it is very easy to find that gallonage of tanks with the width and depth as 2ft long. Another rule for small tanks is that every 1 ft cube equals 7.5 gallons.

:confused::screwy:

So your typical 75g tank 48" x 18" x 21" divided by .1337 is 135,706:ROFL:

Hey give him a break he was only off by 135,631 gallons...its just an estimation:ROFL:

I have a corner tank, quarter circle is the a different conversion for that
Easy. Just pretend the tank is a full circle. So what is the height and circumference of the tank? Enter that into the conversion tab to the top left on this forum and divide your answer by 4. Thats your total gallonage.
