its plastic and was used to store hot peppers. i will be using them to condition water for water changes. they were power washed and i put an entire gallon of bleach in and filled up with water. i let it soak for 48 hours and i still can't get the smell of hot peppers out. do you think the bleach did enough or should i continue to soak until their is no trace of hot peppers?

I'd keep soaking it with fresh water. Put some water in there and see what kind of pH change occurs to see if there is still a significant amount of acid in the drum

Taste it. If you can taste it rinse a couple more times. Leave full in the sun to heat it up some. Then check again.

(couldn't have got the ones with applesauce huh? ;)).

becareful or your fish are going to have the poops, ya know from the hot-peppers!!!!!! i use a large trashcan!!

lol. do you guys think im adding an extra step for no reason? i mean as far as dechlorinating the water in a drum before i add to tank.
