The problem I'm having is how I would fit it in my tank and sump. It just wouldn't work. I don't have many ideas on how to get pass this other than use a tube or some sort of screw on piece that would go to the sump. Anyone have ideas that could help make this thing work for me???

How I got mine to work was :

After the T that you have on the outside of the tank, I placed a ball valve, then that goes to your sump. How I start the overflow is close the ball valve, put the whole thing inside the tank, make sure water fills up the inside Tube, then take a cup or two of water, fill the outside tube. After both sides are filled with water, this is when you use an air hose to suck the left over air that's at the very top. This brings water into that space where there used to be air. Open your ball valve and your siphoning will start and will continously flow. Hope you understood that:)

You just run a pipe from the T to your sump. I don't see what the problem you're having is. Your overflow looks just like mine except I pointed my T's at the wall since I have a space behind my tank. If you describe the problem or take pictures of it, then we can help.

I think I know what your problem is and there's two solutions.

A pvc coupling or union or flexibly hose. I used a coupling/union that has two pieces that screw together. Your Lowe's or Home Depot should have them. http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=98996-322-53026N&lpage=none is the type I used. Just get the size for your pipe.

They also make a black rubber one with band clamps on each end.

This will allow you to put the plumbing to the sump in place then connect it to the overflow.
