Question on medications

Most of these medications say to remove activated carbon before giving the medicine. What happens if you don't? Does the carbon cancel out the medicine?
 
Carbon removes meds. That's why you need to remove the carbon when you treat.
 
You're not required to use the carbon most of the time though. I just use it when I have to remove meds and tannins out of the tank but I prefer water changes since I take advantage of cleaner water.:)
 
What media do you normally use in your filters? I currently have a prefilter, carbon & ammonia remover.
 
Just sponge, filter floss and crushed corals.
 
My canister just has sponges, ceramic rings and bio balls. My HOB's have nothing but a bio-wheel.
If you don't need it why use it?
If you use stuff like air freshners and the likes it's good to have some carbon around just incase some gets in your tank, but besides that it's not needed unless your removing meds.
