You can cross breed any Molly that isn't sterile.

what do u mean by sterile? sorry i dont understand the word.

sterile, meaning infertile. cannot reproduce. but yes, you most certainly can cross breed them. that is how they come up with so many color variations and new cheesy names like "chocolate chip" molly. lol.

oic.. how would i know if my females are sterile or not?

if you buy mollies from petco or petsmart or wallmart or me :) , they are usually pregnant, you can ask for really gravid{ pregnant} females, point out the plumpest ones, its allways better to get 2 males and 4 -6+ females, pretty soon you will have to many mollies. also,, some females are to young to give birth , if they are small this could be the case. larger gravel is good the fry often survive/hide under/in it and start getting braver as they grow. alot of plants, floating, low growing , tall and bushy, real and fake the more the better. alot of times you can miss the fry every time, the larger mollies eat them the second they are coming out, check every 5 minutes :screwy: lol or as much as possible and in the morning right when you turn on the lights or during and after feeding.
feed the fish small amounts several times a day , and give them algae wafers and shrimp pellets to keep them busy and snack on, or seperate all pregnant females to a tank like that..or both:)

I love red mollies!!!!

alot of times you can find fry in the sales tank , right after shipments, ask if you can have or buy the fry, they are hard to catch , but i would do it for you, the sales associate might aswell.

goodluck and keep us posted, so far ive had fantastic luck with silver sailfin mollies,,
they get so much bigger than you think they can. :woot: :clap :headbang2 :naughty: :WHOA: ;)

ive been waiting.. i hear these fish are fast in breeding but i have my mollies for like a month now and still no kids..
