hi, i just set up a 2.5g freshwater with 5 neon tetras yesterday. I know after a few hours or over night the water will get cloudy from the bactaria setting up but im wondering is that still supose to happen when you add water from a tank thats been running for a few years. so i was thinking maybe i should add filter media maybe gravel from the other tank? My next question is well im wondering how can i get food into my 55g cichlid tank and what i mean is my tank has been up for maybe 3 to 4 years and the water stays clean some algea growth but im looking to have a food soucre live in the tank with the fish so i dont have to wait till the next day to feed im looking for somthing like brine shrimp somthing that can bread and then be eatin by my fish, more or less a natural enviroment. I thought about plants but i dont like takin care of them and i dont really have a light source for plants unless its a low light plant but main petstore near me closed i think i drove by the other day work was being done so if a plant somthing i can find and get easy, never done online dealing with fish stuff before so i quess somthing from petsmart or petco

The tank is getting cloudy because of the toxic amonia from fish waste.

Yes. add used (seeded) filter media from an existing tank and yours will cycle faster.

There is no food sourse that will live in the tank and susstain them. You must feed them.

well thats just it i will im looking for somthing to keep them good so they dont starve waiting till the next day the get skinny fast, theres a lot of fish in there

I believe blackworms will survive in a tank if the substrate is deep enough. They poke there heads out every once in awhile and the fish just eat them.

you need to make sure you have exsisting bactera colony.. grab a net full of gravel from an exsisting tank and use the filter ( well squees the filter media into the new filter and tank, may get dirty but the bactera colony will start repopulate fast ) or just use the exsisting graval from your 55 and that should do it..

what type of cichlids? i was thinking you could add swordtails and mollys, they have live babys ( hence the name livebearers lol ) every 28 or so days.
