Question On Nile Monitor Feeding

I dont know how else to word this so here goes lol Can nile monitors have mice and rats that are bigger than they can swallow? Like will they tear bits of meat off at a time? Or will they be incapable of eating it?

I will assume you're talking about a small nile monitor since large adults would have no problem swallowing a rat. I've never seen a baby or juvenile monitor tearing up a rat, they usually swallow whole but unless it's REALLY too big, they can usually swallow large prey no problem.

I think he wants to feed his monitor a large animal and watch him shred it to pieces

My water monitor is feeding on ex breeder mice. He CAN swallow them whole but prefers to rip them in half and "finger paint" with it before eating them.... he is a pain in the butt....

Yeah, never seen a captive monitor tearing up a prey. Most keepers chop the food up.
