well i just set up a 5gal acrylic tank for 2 striped hermit crabs that were given to me this morning (it was a surprise of sorts...). the crabs were sitting in a bag of shells for the past few days in my neighbor's house so i had to act fast, and now theyre in the tank, with live sand and all the necessary equipment.
BUT, the water is ridiculously cloudy. should i shut the filter off for the night to let it settle, or just keep everything running and wait for the sand to settle without doing anything?

oh yeah, the crabs are active and eating, and i will be getting a couple small pieces of live rock in a couple weeks.

mite suggest putting a micron sock in to catch some, but in general not much you can do, let it settle, but keep an eye on the pump they have been known to burn out with grit in the water (not often but it happens).

ok, so should i leave the filter on or off? sorry lol

nope leave it running, flow is important (for air and other things) things will settle out, just make sure it doenst stop haha cuz that will be a bigger problem.
