I have a juvenile Shovelnose that likes to take diving rolls into the substrate then dart off. Is this something they do or might it be a reaction to somthing?

At the face value, it doesn't sound normal to me. I've never seen them do that. A video could help. It might be flashing / rubbing on the substrate or is trying to rub off a parasite that irritates its skin, I fathom.
