Looking for opinions on used Acrylic tanks, it was suggested while your cleaning the tank, to run a small bead of acrylic cement along the seams..

Is this really necessary the tank I'm looking at is about 7 years old and in good shape....

anything I need to be aware of as a buyer:popcorn:

mine i think are all glass but one. my acrylic was used but really good condition so I just cleaned it like usual and reused it.

you can just to be sure, but it's not totally necessary I'd say, but a good precaution

did you test it for leaks already?
fill it let it sit awhile and run your finger along the seams to see if they're leaking at all

I bought a used acrylic tank. And even though it was from a the owner of a very reputable LFS, I checked the seams visually as well as had it filled to check for leaks. They thought i was crazy but i am glad I know what I was getting into and I love my tank. I say use your gut as well as common sense.

Thank you everyone for your input.
visually it looked fine, in good shape no apparent cracks, no bubbles in the seams...well I went ahead and bought it.. Pics in another thread forthcoming once I bring it home and do a leak test ....
