Question on what filtration Vietnam breeders use?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the use of lava rock and ceramic rings is same i.e. to provide shelter to nitrosomas bacteria to accommodate and convert tank's harmful ammonia and nitrates into less reactive nitrites to make your fishes feel safe and comfortable.this phenomenon is called biological filtration.so,u will be on safer side if u also use them.

I think you meant to say covert harmful ammonia and nitrites into nitrates.

the smaller split tanks, just use an airstone and have a single hole spray bar that runs above the tanks. The ends of the tank have submersible pumps attached to pvc to suck and create movement in the water. It probably goes into a huge central sump type filtration on each setup, but who knows.

SOme of the other setups are just sponge filters with the same set up as above. Only difference is the tanks are a bit bigger and each contain their own submersible pump.

Water movement is the key to clean tanks imo. Over filtration is always good.

Not for sure here but I thought I read somewhere that they do huge water changes like 90 percent or something crazy like that. Heavy mechanical filtration and water movement are essential but frequent water changes will keep the tank the clearest IMO.

It could be one of those Vietnam filters I saw when I went there, it's like a plastic box with like sponges and stuff and water going over the sponges and stuff the back to the tank. The box stays on top of the tank so that's prob why the submersible pump is used.
