Not too long ago on this site I saw a textured-rock setup that mounts inside the tank, and is very realistic(and kind of pricey lol). I cant remember the name of the company for the life of me, but I remember the piece being around $200 or so for a 55G spec aquarium. My question is, with that kind of protrusion on the back wall of the entire aquarium, how, and are you guys running a Fluval FX5 setup, b/c they all seem to mount the intake/return lines via suction cups to the glass, and Id REALLY rather not have it mounted to the sides(trying to make it as sleek as possible). Also, is anyone running a heater inside of their fluval(specs/how do you mount), b/c Id love to get rid of the standard heater look as well. Thanks for any help guys! :headbang2

Is an FX% overkill for a 55G as well? I want to upgrade to a 125G+ someday, but dont have the cash atm lol.

Check out some of the 3D background threads, like the one in my signature and JK47's stuff. The company I recommend is designs by nature. They have the best prices and customer service IMO.

If the background is slim and sits flush against the back of the tank, you can move it forward about an inch so you have a little pocket behind the background where you can hide all your plumbing. There are other tricks too, check out JK47's sticky in the setup section.

FX5 is overkill on a 55 gallon, but you can adjust the flow to it without damaging the motor, so it would work, and you'd have a bigger filter when you decide to upgrade (that will save you money in the long run).

Thanks alot man! Design by nature sounds familiar, I think thats the company I was looking at awhile back. Any suggestions on a filter that would be a bit better suited for a 55, although could be used on a 125 when I step up to one?

Also, moving the background forward and inch or so, how would it then be mounted? Via suction cups with an extension or something of the sort?

If you move the background forward you can just silicone the sides and bottom of it to the tank.
