in my mind
Hi guys, I recently joined this forum due to my interest in arowanas and I must say that I am impressed with the amount of knowledgable ppl on this site. The past couple of days I have learned so much about them and I am loving this forum. Thanks for that.

Anyways. I am deciding on a tank size and was wondering, how long it would take a black/silver aro to outgrow a 70 gallon tank? I am planning on getting a black or silver maybe around 4". The 180 gal tank size is kinda too crazy for me to comprehend right now. Im a baby MFKer for now. The tank measurement I was looking at is 48x24x13 (LxWxH).

I would love to hear your guys' opinion on this matter. Thanks. Oh and for ur info right now I have nothing. No supplies, no fish, no tank whatsoever.

If you keep the water temp. low such as 70F it would take about two years to outgrow the 70 gallon. On the other hand if you fallow the recommended temp. of 80F I would not really waste my time with the 70 gallon, as the Aro would surely start to out grow it in about eight months.

Some members on this site say my 125 gal. is to small for my 22" Aro. Some times I can agree, but my Aro acts vary happy and shows no signs of stress being in a 125 gal. aquarium. I find the real secret is to have just enough room to turn around comfortably.

Forever? I'd say no. I've got mine in a 400g 6.5' diameter trough, and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna have to upgrade to something with at least a 10' diameter.

Wow. Thanks for the insight guys. I think I'm gonna hold off for a bit as I need more funds and space. Appreciate your input!
